Dubai's Visionary Housing Plan: Sheikh Mohammed Announces $1.5 Billion Latifa City Project

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al MaktoumVice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has revealed a groundbreaking $1.5 billion housing initiative and the creation of a novel district named Latifa City as part of a $57 billion social agenda.

Dubai's Social Agenda 33, inspired by the theme "Family: The Foundation of Our Nation," encompasses 33 transformative projects for 2024. The plan, approved by Sheikh Mohammed, focuses on providing essential support to citizens for the well-being of their families. Aiming to further social cohesion, the agenda includes the allocation of 3,500 plots of land and 2,300 ready-to-move-in houses valued at AED5.5 billion ($1.5 billion) across Dubai.

As a testament to his commitment, Sheikh Mohammed directed the naming of the new area for citizens' housing as "Latifa City." He emphasized the significance of family and social stability in government plans, highlighting Dubai's success as a result of prioritizing public welfare and creating optimal conditions for work and creativity.

The designated Latifa City, covering 40 million square feet, pays tribute to Sheikha Latifa bint Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohammed's mother. The housing plots, spanning various areas, including Latifa City and Al Yalayis 5, will be distributed to eligible citizens in February.

The initiative aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, focusing on empowering the community, ensuring family stability, and providing the best living standards for citizens. Mattar Al Tayer, Dubai’s Commissioner General for Infrastructure, Urban Planning, and Wellbeing Pillar, emphasized the committee’s dedication to implementing initiatives in line with the leadership’s vision.

Dawood Abdul Rahman Al-Hajri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, reiterated the municipality's commitment to collaboration for enhancing citizens' happiness and well-being, promoting sustainable development, and improving the overall quality of life.

Omar Hamad Abdullah Hamad Bu Shehab, CEO of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment, highlighted the establishment’s dedication to fostering collaboration to deliver modern and integrated housing services. These initiatives aim to ensure the social stability of Emirati families, align with the 2040 Urban Master Plan, and contribute to comprehensive sustainable development in Dubai.

In line with the recently launched AED208 billion ($57 billion) Social Agenda program, Sheikh Mohammed aims to double the number of Emirati families in the emirate within a decade. Plans also include enhancements to housing standards, healthcare, and the overall quality of life for citizens.
