UAE’s Museum of The Future To Open On 22/02/22: What You Need To Know

UAE’s Museum of the Future is slated to open on 22/02/2022.

Earlier this month, the UAE’s Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, posted some stunning images of the landmark, describing it as one of the most beautiful buildings on earth.

This architectural wonder is located on Sheikh Zayed Road and is a sight to see for everyone.

The seven-storey pillarless structure covers 30,000 square meters and stands 77 metres tall. Despite its torus-like shape, the stainless-steel facade of the structure is adorned with Arabic calligraphy.

The structure contains over 14,000 metres of wisdom. Emirati artist Mattar bin Lahej designed the words to contain quotes from Sheikh Mohammed about the future and legacy.

One of the quotes reads: “The future belongs to those who can imagine it, design it, and execute it.”

The museum is powered by 4,000 megawatts of solar energy produced by a station connected to the building.

Approximately 80 species of plants surround the museum, which is maintained with an intelligent and automatic irrigation system.

The museum was rated as one of the 14 most beautiful attractions in the world by National Geographic.

The following information will help you learn more about the building:

Museum of the Future – what is it?

The Dubai Future Foundation describes the museum as combining exhibitions, immersive theatres, and themed attractions, inviting the public to “look beyond the present to the possible”.

What does the building’s design symbolize?

The museum’s website states that its form is symbolic. According to the artist, “The round building represents humanity, the green mound on which it stands represents Earth, and the void represents the unknown future.”

The calligraphy on its façade translates to what?

Written in Arabic calligraphy on the structure’s windows are quotes written by Sheikh Mohammed about his future vision for the city.

A few of the quotes include:

“We may not live for hundreds of years, but the products of our creativity can leave a legacy long after we are gone.”

“The future belongs to those who can imagine it, design it, and execute it.”

“The future does not wait… The future can be designed and built today.”

What will be inside?

The official website claims that each floor is like a movie set from the future that can be explored and interacted with.

The setting and scenes of the shows engage audiences and challenge their perceptions of the world, the future, and what is possible.

A team of international experts in product design, media production, exhibition design, and experience design created the content.

The show will cover a wide range of topics, such as space travel, living in the future, climate change, and health and wellness.

What kinds of experiences will be available?

According to Dubai Future Foundation, the exhibits will include outer space resource development, ecosystems, biotechnology, health, and spirituality.

There will also be a floor showcasing near-future technologies that will address issues in areas such as health, water, food, transportation, and energy.

According to the foundation, the final floor will be devoted to children, where they will face challenges with their unique viewpoints to become “future heroes”.
